Fancy racing a horse with leading trainer Gai Waterhouse? What about a pacer and a greyhound as well?

The Sunday Telegraph and The Daily Telegraph have launched The Punters Club; an exciting new initiative run in conjunction with Racing NSW. It's free to join and there are no catches.

Members of The Punters Club become co-owners of two two-year-olds trained by Gai Waterhouse, a pacer prepared by Peter Morris and a greyhound trained by Brendan Wheeler.

Each member receives a membership card that entitles them to special offers, benefits and promotions every month. This may include free or discounted entry to selected race meetings in NSW, invitations to special events, competitions and more.

Kate Waterhouse, a regular social columnist for The Sunday Telegraph, will be the face of The Punters Club. She will provide members with regular updates of club activities and special offers every Friday in The Daily Telegraph and every Sunday in The Sunday Telegraph.

"When asked to be part of this exciting initiative, I just jumped at the chance," she said. "I'm passionate about racing and welcome any opportunity to show off our wonderful sport to people who are new to the game.  "The Punters Club will introduce many, many people to the thrills and excitement that racing offers and I'm sure every club member is going to have a fantastic experience."

Gai Waterhouse is also thrilled to be a part of The Punters Club as our trainer. She found us our horses, which are leased on behalf of the members.

"This is a marvellous opportunity for people from all walks of life to enjoy what racing has to offer," the trainer said. "I'm very excited about training horses for The Punters Club and I'm sure we'll all enjoy plenty of success."

The club also has the support of Racing NSW and Tabcorp. "When equine influenza hit the sport last year, everyone in racing suffered," Racing NSW chief executive, Peter V'landys, said.

"The Punters Club is an exciting way to promote interest in NSW racing and encourage involvement and participation in our great industry. I know every club member is going to have a wonderful time."

The two horses secured for The Punters Club are the unraced two-year-olds Geffen and Nightofthegeneral.

Geffen is by champion sire Flying Spur out of the British Banker mare, Corporate Queen. Corporate Queen was a winner at Randwick and was placed in the Grafton Cup.
