The Tooheys New Royal Randwick Carnival continues in grand style this Wednesday

It’s Ladies Day at Royal Randwick this Wednesday 30 April 2008, with a star-studded program of fashions, entertainment and high-quality racing on offer to usher in day 2 of the Tooheys New Royal Randwick Carnival.
On the racing front, Wednesday’s carnival action features the running of the $500,000 JPMorgan Australian Oaks, one of the most prestigious races on the Australian national calendar for 3 year old fillies.

Wednesday’s racing also features 2 other quality group races, the $175,000 Seek Executive Gr 2 Sapphire Stakes and the $120,000 Gr 3 Barcardi Breezer South Pacific Classic. These races, along with an impressive support programme that includes four other listed events, all adds up to the richest and highest-quality midweek raceday seen in Sydney for many, many years.

In a longstanding carnival tradition, Oaks Days at racing carnivals worldwide are renowned for being Ladies Day. And Royal Randwick’s JPMorgan Australian Oaks day is certainly no different.

On Wednesday all ladies receive free entry to the course - and decked out in their best raceday outfit they’ll get the chance to compete for a range of tremendous prizes at the second day of the Visa Platinum Fashions on the Field competition.

Fashions on the Field category’s to be conducted on JPMorgan Australian Oaks Day include the Best Dressed Lady and Millinery Award, two categories that really give the ladies the opportunity to turn heads and make their own fashion statement. (The range of fabulous prizes on offer for this day’s category winners is included on the attached fashion summary release).

Ladies on course this Wednesday will also get to enjoy all the excesses of the Royal Randwick Pamper Palace, a hair and makeup oasis for the glamorous race-going princess, courtesy of Royal Randwick’s fashion partners Joh Bailey and Clinique.

All this exclusive fashions action at JPMorgan Australian Oaks day can be experienced at the special Fashions Precinct at Royal Randwick, located at the Rose Garden lawn, adjacent to the main course entry plaza of Ascot Drive. Here ladies will be able to register for the Fashions of the Field competition as well as enjoy the delights of the Pamper Palace.

Other special entertainment on course this Wednesday includes a performance of the ever –popular Piano Man  in the Members Bar, and the continuation of the special Tabcorp ‘Suprise packet' promotion throughout the course during the afternoon.

Channel Nine will be providing free-to-air live coverage of all the racing and fashions action from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday.

After the elegance of Saturday’s Emirates Doncaster Day, with ladies and gentlemen dressed to the nines in their finest attire for the Classic Racewear category, the Visa Platinum Fashions on the Field competition shifts its gaze to search for the Best Dressed Lady and Millinery Award this Wednesday, JPMorgan Australian Oaks Day, - day 2 of the Tooheys New Royal Randwick Carnival .
