The Illawarra Turf Club will feature its flagship race, the Illawarra Mercury Keith F.Nolan Classic, as part of its inaugural Sensational Sunday at Kembla Grange. For the first time in the club’s history, the program stakes will top $500,000.
The Classic is expected to draw the best three year old fillies in Australia to Kembla Grange looking to follow in the footsteps of last year’s outstanding winner Hot Danish.
Sensational Sunday brings together in one big event the club’s feature races including the $150,00 Classic; $100,000 PFD Food Services Kembla Grange Cup (1600 metres) and the $100,000 Cleary Bros “The Freeway” over 1300 metres.
It will be a day of non-stop entertainment and fashion with race day sponsors including Myer, who will also provide Fashions in the Field and a pamper tent. One lucky racegoer will win a Ford Fiesta, courtesy of leading Wollongong car dealer, Keira Ford. Location: Kembla Grange Racecourse
